So, unfortunately, I miss the right to vote by exactly one month! Can you believe it! The 26th amendment only begins for me next month. But, for those of you that are eligible to vote, I highly recommend that you do so. Why? Because one vote really can make a difference Maybe not necessary in the presidential election, but most certainly in the state and local elections. And it has never been more important than now when our environment is in crisis. So, it is important to be informed. I am definitely not telling you who to vote for – I am simply advocating for you look into what the candidates stand for and vote based upon what you believe and what you are seeking for our future. It is important for everyone to exercise their constitutional rights. For example, I have been following my local assemblyman, Jake Blumencranz. He represents my district, and I have been really impressed by all that he has done. He fights for individuals with special needs (if you know me you know that Dancing Dreams has been a big part of my life and this holds a special place in my heart), tries to bring attention to sustainable and small businesses, fights for his constituents and has supported several bills advancing environmental causes. I actually tried to get an internship position at his office. However, it all worked out because then I began interning for a local grassroots environmental organization which I love. But that’s just a side note. The point is that we all need to use our voices and our words to support those candidates that are working to protect our planet and make sure to exercise our fundamental right to participate in one of the most important parts of our country’s democratic process – the right to vote.
